It’s Fix review day! This Fix made me happy because it included summer dresses which means the warmer weather is just around the corner. It was sunny and 70 in KC today, which is darn near perfect. Preparations to open the neighborhood pool are underway which Audrie has pointed out every time we’ve passed it today (she’s more than a little excited).
Did you check out the unboxing video I did for this Fix? Videos are scary and really not me but I’m trying to step out of my box, pun intended. 🙂 Not sure how Stitch Fix works?Check out this Stitch Fix Basics post for all the deets.

Ok, on to the goods from this month. I requested shorts this month and was both excited and nervous about getting them. Shorts are hard to pick out when you’re actually at the store to try them on. They’re too short, too long, too tight, too big. They never fit right. Somebody else picking shorts for me? Frightening.
My first impression of the shorts was they’re cute but they look small. I instantly thought there was no way they were never gonna make it in a pic on the blog. You know when you try something on and it’s so bad you don’t even come out of the dressing room to show your friend? Yeah, that’s what I thought was going to happen with these shorts.
The shorts Nicolette picked Kut from the Kloth Jaylon Denim. I’m happy to report they stretched…a lot. I’ve paired them here with the Derickson Lace Up Top from Daniel Rainn that was also in this box.
The shorts are a good length, move with me, and are very comfy. I could see me getting good use out of them this summer. The lace-up top, I’m not sure about. I don’t mind the lace at all, it’s nice and would keep me cool. The part I’m not sure about is the tie. It’s really not my style.
Here’s a picture of the back of the top. I can picture me wearing this on a beach vacation (did I mention warmer weather is on my mind?).
For cooler nights, I also paired the lace-up top with the red jeans from last month, a jean jacket, and a pair of blue and white striped wedges I bought last summer and have never worn. Forgot how much I like them!
Next up is the Sina V-Neck Printed Maxi Dress from Gilli. I have a slight addiction to maxi dresses and Nicolette hit the nail on the head with this one. I have enough sleeveless dresses so I like this one has a small bit of sleeve. The top is fitted but not too tight and it isn’t too ‘clingy’ through the hips (I hate that). Another item from this box that would be perfect for the beach!
Next, I tried the Ami Embroidered Top from THML. I like the color but the pattern is interesting and the fabric isn’t very comfortable. There’s no stretch at all. I don’t need a lot of stretch but a little give is appreciated. I put this top with a pair of jean capris that came in my Fix a few months ago. I really can’t say enough good things about these capris.
And last, but certainly not least, there’s the Renesme Jersey Faux Wrap Dress from 41Hawthorn. I love that the sleeves are longer and I don’t have a lot of blue dresses (plenty of blue Royals blue shirts, just not a lot of blue dresses). I also like that, although the dress is cut a little low, the top is fitted enough I don’t feel like it’s going to burst wide open. Very important consideration.
Overall, this Fix didn’t blow me away but that’s ok. I don’t need to keep everything all the time. Here’s what I decided:
- Jaylon Denim Short from Kut from The Kloth ($68) – RETURN
- Ami Embroidered Top from THML ($54) – RETURN
- Sina V-Neck Printed Maxi Dress ($78) – KEEP
- Derickson Lace Up Top from Daniel Rainn ($74) – RETURN
- Renesme Jersey Faux Wrap Dress ($78) – KEEP
I’m very excited about the dresses! I didn’t keep the shorts because, while I like them, I don’t $68 like them. The Ami Embroidered Top, I couldn’t get past the fabric. I move around a lot and I need my clothes to move with me. The Derickson Lace Up Top, the tie was too much.
