Last year, I included this cake in my 10 Easy Easter Cakes post. This Peter Rabbit Cake from Taste of Home really is just as easy as they say it is. Trust me, I’m no master cake decorator. Same as everything else I post, if I can make it, so can you.
First, bake your cake per the directions on the box in 2 9-inch round pans. After they’ve (more…)
It’s almost time to celebrate our independence! You know what that means, right? Lots of scared puppies and crying kids…er I mean food, family, friends, and fireworks. Yeah, that’s what I meant.
A very important, if not the most important, (more…)
It’s here, the dreaded day. My baby is growing up so quickly and his mom doesn’t like it. It makes me sad. Like I’m tearing up thinking about it right now kinda sad. I know, he’s growing into a smart and handsome little man. But he’s still my baby and moms don’t like when their babies grow. One positive thing about birthdays though, it gives me an excuse to make a cake. Every now and then I get the cake bug and want to make something and a baby smash cake is the perfect project for me, the not-so-great baker/cake decorator.
I mentioned how much I admire I Am Baker in a post last week. Again tonight, Audrie and I sat memorized on the couch watching some of her videos on Facebook. She makes everything look so simple! I daydream often (more…)
You have 2 weeks until Mother’s Day, the clock is ticking. Do you know what you’re getting the special mom(s) in your life? Those of you that are mothers, are you tired of getting the same old Mother’s Day gifts or *gasp* nothing at all? Are you looking to give a friendly nudge to someone as to what to get you? Look no further!
Fortunately for me, I chose the best gift-giving husband ever. Really, he’s amazing at gift giving. Birthday, Mother’s Day, anniversary, Christmas, he’s got it all covered. He’s always thinking outside the box, (more…)
When I set out to think of some April Fools Day ideas for the kids, all the pranks I thought of were kinda mean. So I searched for some ideas and, turns out, it’s not just me that thinks of slightly mean things to do to their kids on April Fools Day. Makes me feel ever so slightly better about my mom-abilities. 🙂
These ideas would’ve been great for St. Patrick’s Day, also. Audrie kept talking about how a leprechaun (more…)
Looking for a gift for your favorite teacher? Audrie’s preschool teachers were great but I’ve been blown away with how wonderful her Kindergarten teacher is. I’m not in the classroom very often but when I am the chaos that takes place is almost too much for me to handle. How she does it every day amazes me and Audrie adores her.
Here’s some cute, non-labor intensive ideas I found to show a teacher how much you appreciate them. Some of these (more…)
We were a few days late celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year. Really, we don’t normally celebrate so the fact we acknowledged the day is impressive. I saw these Lucky Charms Cupcakes from The Gold Lining Girl and thought they’d be perfect for Audrie to help make. She loves Lucky Charms (who doesn’t) and, of course, her favorite part are the marshmallows so combining cupcakes with marshmallows, not much gets better for a 5 year old.
We did these green for St. Patrick’s Day but you could do them for any occasion. The Surprise Inside Cupcakes I highlighted in 10 Easy Easter Cakes are just another example of something fun to do. Possibilities are endless.
I didn’t have the time (or energy) to make these cupcakes from scratch or pipe the icing on so I made the cupcakes from a box and (more…)
This year we’re going to a St. Paddy’s Day party for the first time ever and I have absolutely no idea what to take. It’s not that we don’t like Irish food but we don’t typically eat it. So what’s a girl to do? Go to Pinterest, of course!
Not gonna lie, not all of these look overly appetizing to me but, hey, I’m open to trying new things. Also, not gonna pretend all of these are Irish. (more…)
It’s that time of year where there’s Peeps, Peeps, everywhere there’s Peeps! I’m not a big fan of eating Peeps by themselves but put them on a graham cracker with some chocolate…yes, please! With all the pretty colors, shapes, and flavors (the blue raspberry is especially good), it’s hard to remember Peeps are actually just marshmallows. What better to do with them than make s’mores?!
March in the midwest means we haven’t had s’mores (more…)
I like doing crafts with Audrie (see Valentine’s Mailbox) and, lucky for me, she enjoys doing them too. Also, like me, she doesn’t like to repeat things so I’m always looking for new ideas. Here’s some fun Easter crafts I found as potential projects for this year. I’d show a picture of an Easter craft we’ve done in past years but, for the life of me, I can’t think of any of the ones we’ve done and I can’t find a single picture. This mom’s mind is slipping and I’m not great at saving pictures. I’ll do better this year (maybe, I make no promises).
The last one is for the baby to do. Love crafts that involve baby hand or foot prints. 🙂
