Thanks for visiting us at Mommy’s Not Perfect!
Do you like to cook? Yeah, me neither. But you know what I do like? Eating. I like eating breakfast foods, savory meals, healthy meals, sweets, I don’t really discriminate. I’m always on the lookout for meals with normal ingredients that can be made fairly quickly after work (let’s face it, evening are c-r-a-z-y) and I also like to save money so the vast majority of recipes I make aren’t going to require you to go to that specialty grocery store across town to buy a package of 12 items you can’t pronounce for $19.99 when you only need 1.
What can you expect to see when you come here? You can expect to see me experiment with new ingredients, share new recipes, and my (sometimes poor) attempts at decorating cakes and cupcakes. Not everything works so I’ll share fails along with successes (hence, mommy’s not perfect).
What can you NOT expect to see when you come here? I’m not a master chef or baker, I’m not a photographer, and I’m not a journalist. If you’re looking for professional advice, you should seek out a professional [chef, baker, craftsman, designer, etc.]. I’m not that person. I didn’t know how to make scrambled eggs until I was 28 years old. Embarrassing, but true. I’m a work in progress here, people.
Random facts about me. I’m quirky and like lists and order (I considered doing this in a bulleted list but I don’t want to look like a maniac). I laugh at corny jokes (think Laffy Taffy wrappers), anything in which animals talk (think Dr. Doolittle), Stuart from Mad TV, and Mean Celebrity Tweets. I’ve never done a cartwheel and am a certified Wheel Watcher. I’m a Midwest girl but could adapt very easily if I was forced to live on a beach somewhere tropical. I’m very, very sarcastic. Please keep this in mind when reading my posts.
So who’s the other part of ‘us’ at Mommy’s Not Perfect? This blog wouldn’t have been able to get off the ground without the hubby and webmaster. He’s the brains of this operation. Seriously, without him, I’d continue to say “I’m gonna start a blog” for many, many more years. Fun facts about us: we met on Match.com and we’re big baseball (go Royals!) and football fans (go Chiefs!).
Here’s a picture of the whole gang on our recent vacation. No turtles were harmed in the taking of this picture (baby tried to poke the turtle’s eye out but we averted the crisis just in time).
